What is Reverse Osmosis?

Reverse osmosis (RO) is a special type of filtration that uses a semi-permeable, thin membrane with pores small enough to pass pure water through while rejecting larger molecules such as dissolved salts (ions) and other impurities such as bacteria. Reverse osmosis is used to produce highly purified water for drinking water systems, industrial boilers, food and beverage processing, cosmetics, pharmaceutical production, seawater desalination, and many other applications. It has been a recognized technology for more than a century and commercialized since the 1960s.

How does the Industrial RO Water Plant work?

Reverse osmosis is a continuously operating treatment technology that uses pressure to pass source water through a thin membrane and thereby separate impurities from water.

Industrial RO System working cycle:

Step 1: Raw Water Pump:-

• to generate pressure for the line system.

Step 2: Pressure Sand Filter(PSF) :-

• The water is first filtered by a pressure sand filter unit for the removal of suspended matter and turbidity.

Step 3: Activated carbon Filter(ACF) :-

• To remove Colour, Odour, Chlorine, Oil & Grease from the water.

Step 4: Micron Cartridge Filter(MCF) :-

• These are Pressure Vessels fitted internally which removes micron-sized particles.

Step 5: Antiscalant Dosing System:-

• To prevent membrane from scaling(hardness).

Step 6: High Pressure Pump:-

• A high-pressure pump is provided for supplying the feed water to the RO System at a high pressure of 10-12 kg/cm2-.

Step 7: Desalination System By RO Membrane element: –

• A Reverse Osmosis System rejects 90-95% of Total Dissolved Solids(TDS)

Step 8: Storage of Treated(Pure) Water :-

• To store treated(Pure) water in tank
